It's going to be insane with all the day parties and showcases going on at the same time, but I will attempt to hit up these shows... Wish me luck!

3-days off!

I love 3 day weekends. Didn't have to work on Monday since it was Pres day. Pretty nice eh? I was going to get out of jack and head to the mountains but instead, B and I took it easy this weekend, went to a couple shows and caught up on some shut eye.
I also hung out at Triple Door on Friday night to celebrate a friend's 30th b-day. It was great because her husband reserved a private suite so we could watch the Dean and Britta show from above. They sounded beautiful and they played Night Nurse, my fave D&B song! I bought their Variations album for a friend since it was only avail at the show. Was going to have the band sign it but instead I shyed away and just told them they were 'fantastic' when they were smoking outside. They were too cool.
Also went to Discovery Park w/B this weekend and skated Red Square with my pal Camille. Love 3 day weekends.

And the Grammy goes to...
Grammys are total BS
I thought that LCD album was worthy of recognition too... and Ed Banger's Justice, where's the love?
Amy Winehouse as a child.

BP Nordie's review is up

Hey, so I reviewed a few singles for Nordstrom's (one of our clients) that Brendan programs music for... of course he picks country pop and stuff that I don't even listen to, but hey at least it was published!
BP NORDSTROMS - BAND HIGHLIGHTS
funny eh? And mind the typos... looks like there's some weird formatting issues going on but the video links and everything else work. Also, by no means does this reflect my tastes in music... just for work! I know, sell out ha.

Black Lips & Pierced Arrows 2/4 @ Neumo's
Bummer. I got tix to this show from my Vice contact and lucky me comes down with the flu. Yep, Sicky McSinkerton. I felt it coming on Saturday afternoon when I began coughing like I had inhaled smoke or something. Woke up with a fever on Sunday and was pretty much incapasitated for the rest of the day. I thought it would blow over by Monday but nope, the feverish chills, muscle aches, dry coughs and burning sensation in my face continued through this morning. I think this is the worst I've ever had it in a long time. So, I'm taking myself to the doctor to get some meds. Hopefully I'll be able to go to work tomorrow and not be too behind.

In other news... I forgot to write about the MGMT show! It was probably the best show I've seen this year so far. I thought it was only 2 guys, but they had a band of 5 and it sounded so tight. The lead guitarist with crazy orange hair was brilliant and the whole band harmonized so well. The music was reminiscent of Bowie's Ziggy Stardust and Beck's Midnight Vultures album at times. They can really hit the high notes, rock out & get down with soul. Yaesayer was alright (kinda like a more hippie version of Animal Collective, lots of percussion and delays) but I was more impressed with Black Mountain. The vocalists had the coolest voices and the music was hypnotic. I really like the female vocalist.. she had this funky Janis Joplin yodal when she sung and it was just perfect and haunting. All in all one of the best shows yet...
