So busy as of late... luckily we had a nice 3-days off to enjoy some sun but mostly to run errands since we don't have time during the week. Since we missed out on Sasquatch this year, we made a couple trips to Ikea's 'tax free weekend' sale and cruised around local paper stores for wedding favors and what not. No big purchases as of yet, but at least we've got some ideas.
Later in the weekend we biked up to the Folklife Fest and ate some Polish food. Since the crowds were overwhelming, we spent the rest of our sunny day at Aliki Beach in West Seattle. Weird how many rollerbladers we saw. It was like being in Santa Monica or Miami beach..
We ended our day at our friendly neighbor's courtyard BBQing veggie skewers and hamburgers. Couldn't think of a better way to end the weekend.
I'm sorta bummed that we missed out on Sasquatch this year though. I was looking forward to seeing Bjork, Grizzly Bear again, Aziz from Human Giant and Ghostland Obervatory. But, I'm glad we laid low... I just don't have the energy for festivals these days. Rainy weather, $3 bottles of water and long lines for the Honey bucket isn't as appealing as it was before. Am I getting old or what?
I did realize this past week that I absolutely LOVE going to All Ages shows. We saw Japanther last Thursday at the Vera Project and man, was that refreshing. Maybe because the kids are really into dancing & the music and they're mostly well behaved. You can count on me going to another one of these soon...

Wedding planning and such
Well it's been a whirlwind of a time these past 2 weeks. Since we've been back from NY, it's been nothing but eat/sleep/wedding planning 24/7 - yes already! Our goal is to keep it small and simple, but it's almost impossible with all the details you have to consider. I think I've grown a few grey hairs over it! But things are starting to come together now that we have a place for our ceremony reserved.
Now we just need to lock down our reception space and get the invites designed and out the door... once we get this done, the blanks will begin to fill in and it should be smooth cruising...
In other news... the Bowery Hotel sent us a nice letter last week. Since the service wasn't up to par during our stay, I filled out the comment card in great detail (ie: no hot water the morning we woke up, no bellboy available to take our bags up, 45 minute delay in guest check-in, no hot breakfast... yes - all unfortunately true!) Anyhow, we received a personally written note from the GM stating that we have been granted 1 complimentary night at their hotel - a $400 value! Take that Rosario Dawson! (she got into her room before we did, even though she checked in after us, of course) Hopefully they'll have all the kinks worked out by then... I'm sure it's because they are still fairly new. But no one should have to sacrifice their time or money for that. I think they knew we deserved it and we did!
So, I think I'm in love with the Bowery again... perhaps we'll stay for our 1 year anniversary?
