Internet is "It"

Today's topic: Internet Celebrities and Viral Marketing.
Whether it's posting homemade videos on Youtube or exposing your personal lives through a photo blog, you too can catapult yourself to success or fame via the World Wide Web.

For example, LA's Edie Sedgewick aka Cory Kennedy:

Not sure how to feel about it... probably both inspired and uninspired? Or maybe I just wish it were me and not them? Let's debate on this, while I update my blog...

LAB 10,000 part deux!

Had a pretty fun Friday... VJ'ed with Brendan again at Spitfire and we attracted a steady crowd all night (more $, yes!)
Our pals Graham, Jeremy, Allie, Chris, Shannon, Dane and their entourage showed up which was cool. Then Kim, Leah, Kathyrn, Chris and their friends appeared later in the night. They were throwing back drinks in spirit of Kathyrn's b-day and making Aerosmith and Soul Asylum requests... it was too funny. We also had some special guests that evening - friendly British blokes that play in UK pop sensation The Feeling. (they are childhood friends of our buddy Chris) Anyway, never heard of these guys (until recently), but they were pretty fun to hang out with. Apparently they are huge amongst the NME crowd and they played on the Jimmy Kimmel show when they stopped over in LA the other night (yep, they are on tour). Richard, one of their vocalists and guitarists was pretty friendly. We chatted for a bit about Harrow on the Hill and Keifer Sutherland (he met when playing with Roca de luca at HOB)... and since he was sitting right there in front of the system, we checked to see if their new video was on it, but negative! He was kind of bummed and was all "How come Lily's [Allen] video made it on there and not ours?! I'm gonna have to have a talk with our management!" It was hilarious.

As the evening progressed, we found that we were all still sitting in Spitfire after 2am... the lights finally went off and we packed our gear and moved the party outside. In the rain. Indeed it was a good night...

VJ at Spitfire

This weekend was pretty good. Cleaned our apartment, saw Zodiac which was chilling-good and VJ'ed with my work's Nightlife music video system (with 10,000+ music videos!) at Spitfire on Friday night.
We had a pretty strong showing considering how last minute it was. Lots of co-workers and friends showed...
they danced, they sang, and made outrageous video requests. Some key vids that we played that night include:

1. Vitalic "Poney Part 1" (all time fave)
2. Pepe Deluxe's "Salami Fever" (another great one)
3. Eric Prydz "Call on me"

And of course the compulsory Blur, Pixies, Elastica, Warren G, Digital Underground and Strokes requests. We closed out the bar swaying to Tears for Fear's 'Head over Heels' ... it couldn't be a better song to end the night...

Yip-Yip in Seattle

Brian and Jason drove up a few weeks ago to play a Yip-Yip show at the Comet.
I couldn't believe it... All the long way from Orlando... that's about 3,750 miles in their little station wagon!
Man, I wish we could have hung out longer had I known sooner.

Here's a recent article of them in The Stranger: http://www.thestranger.com/seattle/Content?oid=166034

Nice to see creativity flowing from home... makes me miss the small but growing music scene that exists there.

"Read this sentence again and see how it changes."

Had a moment to catch with my friend's website where he hosts his latest art/conceptual projects. Take a look.
I found a lot of it to be interesting, silly yet poignant.

The 'In My Language' video clip posted on his blog is really an interesting perspective on communication and interpretation. Check it out. It's pretty affecting.

Vegas baby

Just got back from Vegas... attended the NCB Tradeshow with ScreenPlay and worked my ars off!
I managed to have a good time though. Ate great steak and lobster, chowed down twice at the buffet in the Vegas Hilton (where we stayed), drank much, and lost 10 dollars playing the slot machines and Wheel of Fortune (yeah I'm a high roller)... oh and we toured 'the strip' on the last couple nights we were there.

Some pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lannafotos/sets/

Yeah Vegas is kind of weird... like adult Disney World with every vice available. It's good to be back in Seattle now. Awe Seattle... had a nice welcome home too - not that I was gone long or anything - but B and I ended up getting free tix to see El Perro Del Mar on Friday night (long story, I'll explain later) The show was a delight and we even met their bassist and chatted with him a bit after the show. Unfortunately, we missed Marni Stern (guitar virtuoso/shredder) & BARR that night, but I'm sure they'll come around again soon. Oh but we did - also - run into some of my old college pals Brian and Brian. They played a show at the Comet with their country side project Lonesome Rhoades.... all in all, an eventful, pleasant good evening.
Gosh it's good to be back.

Soundtrack: Menomena, Snowden - just heard Anti Anti and loved it, more Grizzly Bear, Bjork (Post) classic album, Smashing Pumpkins (Pisces Iscariot) another classic album, Knife to get ready to, El Perro Del Mar and Marni Stern on her website.
