You, Me & Nyc

Hey guys! I'm over here now, so come on over for a visit:

You, me & NYC

I'll try to be better about posting some music stuff here but I've been so focused on YouandMe, that I haven't had a chance to throw down some tracks here. But soon!

Romancing the board

Obviously, I am going to love this new-ish Goldfrapp video... aw, this makes me miss the West Coast [even though this could be Australia, or elsewhere?]... you get the point.

And if you haven't heard, Brendan and I ran away with the circus. Sorta. What we really did, was sold off our belongings and moved to the cultural epicenter, that is New York City. You can follow our adventures here if you wish:

Yup, it's been a crazy busy month with the move, settling into Brooklyn, visiting family and all, but I'll try and post more soon. See you 'round!

Goats

In the midst of all the chaos, I happened to catch this little FF video gem... directed by Sean Pecknold

New York

Well, we made it! Settling into our new digs in Brooklyn today... it's been a long and tiresome journey but things are starting to fall into place.

Big thanks to Aigner for letting us invade his studio the first couple nights. We owe him a few tall ones. Word of advice, pack light when traveling or moving. 6 pieces of luggage up four flights of stairs is NOT fun!

More adventures await us... will write again soon. For now, enjoy some pics:

Brendan driving our belongings from Seattle to Eastern Washington. Yeah we cheated.. stored everything with the parents and flew over with just the bare essentials and a laptop. It's really the way to go.

Prospect Park. Strolled this park for the first time yesterday. I think we'll be spending a lot of our time here.

Grand Army Plaza... this, the Brooklyn Public Library, Prospect Park, train station, and Brooklyn Museum is about 4 blocks from where we live.

New Music

Posting this recent photo of Beck in place of my digi-snaps from Bumbershoot '08. He played in the evening and I didn't leave my shutter open long enough so they came out too dark. Oh well, at least we have this photo along with the sea of others on Google images...

Recent acquires from Easy Street Records on lower Queen Anne:

1. Crystal Castles - can't stop listening to 'Vanishing'
2. Ratatat - the show on Friday was awesome; really good video synced to the beats
3. David Vandervelde - still have yet to listen to all the way thru, liking it so far though. Very Fleetwood Mac.

Also, just received these from work:

1. Abe Vigoda - experimental stuff that Dean Spunt sent to me... they're on his label Post Present Medium which is an uber cool LA-based noise/punk label
2. Midnight Juggernauts - got this one from my Astralwerks contact, reminds me of Cut Copy / Air
3. Mika Miko- another cd I got from Dean over at PPM... these chics are rad.

The National

Just wanted to take a moment to post this Obama spot I found on Stereogum. Loved that they used The National's 'Fake Empire' as soundtrack, such a great song. I guess the band has some exclusive "Mr. November" Obama t shirts coming out soon, so be on the look out for those.

In other news, Bumbershoot took place this past weekend and what a time it was. I got some sweet VIP passes to see Beck, The Walkmen, Thao and the Get Down Stay Down, Lee Scratch Perry and the King of the South, T.I. yo! Will post pics when I get a moment out of my busy life of watching all the DNC/GOP hoopla and season premieres. It's been a busy summer folks!
